Graded Assignment Policy
Graded assignments, including, but not limited to projects, exit tickets, bell ringers, take home tests, computer activities, etc. will receive a 10% reduction in points for each day or part of day that the assignment is late. The 10% deduction will be based on the assignment’s total points. This includes absences unless a student makes contact with the instructor PRIOR to the due date of the assignment. Generally, most graded assignments are given 2+ days to complete and the due date stated on the assignment is the LAST POSSIBLE DATE the assignment will be accepted. If you are absent on the day that a graded assignment is due, please take a picture of your completed assignment and email it to Mrs. Leaver. This way you won't lose the 10% credit.
Quarterly Grades
All grades are given in fraction form. The denominator represents the total number of points the assignment is worth and the numerator represents what was earned. This format automatically "weights" assignments and makes it very easy for students and parents to calculate averages! For example, 25/30 means that out of 30 total points, 25 were earned. You can calculate the percent for your information, but the percent is not what is entered into Power School. To calculate your final/current average, add all your numerators. Add all the denominators. Write this as a fraction, convert to a percent and that is your current/final average!
Example: 12/15 + 30/30 + 44/50 = 86/95.
This would be equivalent to a 90.52%, which would round to a 90.5 in Power School. To the best of my knowledge, we are required to take final averages to the nearest whole number, so the above percent would become 91%.
